ATTIC FIRE SPREAD TO ROOF: Oakville firefighters douse a blaze at the Sixth Line Pub, located at 1500 Sixth Line. Firefighters were called to the building just before 4 p.m. after witnesses reported seeing smoke coming from the roof of the building. The firefighters determined the blaze was in the restaurant’s attic and succeeded in extinguishing it before it spread to the adjacent units. The fire was extinguished at approximately 4:45 p.m. No one was injured in the fire, however, damage to the building is estimated at being approximately $500,000. Jay Diston of the Burlington Braves made the catch — and took the hit — in an OFC semifinal game Saturday at Corpus Christi Secondary School. Kadeem Vaillancourt (42) is the Ottawa Sooners player. Ottawa won 31-21, ending the Braves’ season.(© 2010 Michael Ivanin)
