CAR DEMOLISHED: A local man somehow avoided injury when the vehicle he was driving crossed the South Service Road and slammed into a hydro pole last Friday afternoon, splitting the car in half. Halton Regional Police say the 27-year-old male driver was on the service road, just east of Appleby Line, around 5:30 p.m. when the accident occurred. The driver of the destroyed Pontiac was charged with careless driving. (© 2010 Michael Ivanin/Metroland Media Group)
