Dr. Veronica Vaughan, 64, has been stranded on two occassions within the past year after the family van, which is wheelchair accessible, broke down while she and her husband Dr. George Vaughan were on the road, several kilometres from their Wallaceburg home. Both times the couple were refused service by a CAA towing company, because the operator didn't want to tow the vehicle while Veronica Vaughan remained inside, although there is no law against doing so under the Highway Traffic Act.
